A Promising Natural Solution

Heroin addiction is sick! The drug takes your whole life over. It’s disgusting. You become a slave to it. You’ll rob, cheat, and steal from your own mother to get it. You don’t care, you have to feed the monster! And when you are strung out you’ll do anything for relief.

The withdrawal symptoms can be intense and overwhelming, often leading to relapse. However, there is a growing interest in the potential of kratom as a natural solution for managing heroin withdrawal symptoms

Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Its leaves have been traditionally used for their medicinal properties and as a stimulant by indigenous people. Kratom contains alkaloids that bind to opioid receptors in the brain, producing effects similar to opioids. These effects can include pain relief, relaxation, and increased sociability.

While kratom and heroin have different chemical compositions and effects on the body, there have been some “past studies” that have found similarities between the two substances.

For example, both kratom and heroin are known to interact with the brain’s opioid receptors, which are involved in regulating pain, pleasure, and other sensations. Some studies have suggested that the active compounds in kratom may have a similar structure and binding affinity to these receptors as heroin and other opioids.

Journal of Psychoactive Drugs in 2015

One study published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs in 2015 found that kratom use helped reduce the severity of opioid withdrawal symptoms in 91% of participants.

Journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence 2015

Another study conducted in 2015  in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence, surveyed 293 regular kratom users and found that the majority of them reported using kratom for pain relief and mood enhancement. The study also found that regular kratom use was not associated with significant health or social problems, and that kratom users did not show evidence of impaired social functioning.

Kratom Opiate Studies 2016 study ethnopharmacaology

In 2016, a study was conducted on the ethnopharmacology of Kratom. The purpose of the study was to explore the potential of Kratom as a natural alternative to opioids for the management of chronic pain. The study found that Kratom leaves contain several alkaloids that produce opioid-like effects, including pain relief, sedation, and mood enhancement.

The researchers also noted that Kratom has been used traditionally in Southeast Asia for centuries for its medicinal properties, including the treatment of pain, diarrhea, and coughs. However, the study warned that Kratom has some potential side effects, including addiction, withdrawal symptoms, and the risk of overdose.

Journal of Addiction Medicine in 2017

In 2017, a study was published in the Journal of Addiction Medicine that aimed to investigate the potential benefits and risks of Kratom use among individuals with opioid addiction. The study found that Kratom may have the potential to alleviate opioid withdrawal symptoms and reduce the use of opioids.

In 2019, the Journal of Medical Toxicology published a case report describing a person who experienced liver injury after using kratom. The report was titled “Kratom-Induced Cholestatic Liver Injury Mimicking Anti-Mitochondrial Antibody-Negative Primary Biliary Cholangitis: A Case Report.”

The case report described a 52-year-old woman who had been using kratom for several months for pain management. She developed symptoms of fatigue, abdominal pain, and dark urine, and was eventually diagnosed with cholestatic liver injury, which is a type of liver damage that impairs bile flow.

The report noted that the woman’s liver injury was likely caused by her use of kratom, as there were no other apparent causes for the liver damage. The report also highlighted the potential for kratom to cause liver injury, and suggested that healthcare providers should be aware of this risk when treating patients who use kratom.

As you can see, several studies have been conducted on the benefits of kratom. Kratom may help with your heroin withdrawal by binding to opioid receptors in the brain and producing effects similar to opioids, such as pain relief and relaxation.

It may also help manage withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and cravings.

While research on the effectiveness and safety of using kratom for heroin withdrawal is still limited, some studies suggest that it may be a promising alternative treatment option.

However, it is important to note that kratom is not approved for medical use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and may have risks associated with its use. Make sure to follow The American Kratom Association. Peace!
